Team Formation There are many ways to go about forming teams for the "What's New" and Team Case presentation assignments, none of which are absolutely perfect. We'll try the following process:
We'll try to accommodate your preferences as best we can - but in a seven week class arrangement, need to finalize teams and assignments rather quickly. Case Team Presentation Important note: Because of the compact, 7-week structure of this course, our time for case presentations will be shorter than usual:
It's exceptionally important that case teams are well prepared, and can
deliver case questions on their key recommendations, in no more than 20
minutes. We'll need to hold this clock time fairly tight, to allow us to
cover the appropriate amount of material in the class. The case team can present as a team, or with a leading
spokesperson, in the usual fashion - but should be able to deliver their key
points on the case in 20 minutes or less. PowerPoint can and should be used. Each team should provide a copy of any visual materials, PowerPoint's, etc., they've prepared in summarizing the case, Important---Since class discussion time will be abbreviated, case grades will also be dependent on a "Case Summary Report" -- not to exceed 8 pages -- which must include:
Presentation
Final thought… A key objective of this course is to prepare each of the participants to be "action learning coaches" for their businesses, teams, and enterprises. Please visualize yourself playing that role as you deliver the case presentation. Practice using the tools, templates, and frameworks from the class as you conduct your analysis. Pay attention to the financials! An important part of any recommendation should be that it
does contribute to the bottom line profitability of the firm. eBusiness and
digital technologies can be powerful in saving money, building efficiency,
and building and delivering new value. Digital technologies can also be an
incredible waste of time and effort. An important part of being a good
action learning coach is discerning the difference between the two, and
including that analysis in your recommendations.
An ongoing survey of "what's new" in the emerging world of digital business will be part of every class. This assignment will involve Class Teams surveying media which cover digital business, as well as your own favorite sites on the emerging digital world, and summarizing key points - take aways - insights - in a single page word document, which will be posted on our angel site throughout the semester. We will set up team class session assignments on Monday, August 26, 2002. Your assignment will be to provide a single-page overview,
and to deliver a 15-minute class presentation which follows this format: |
