Dr. Oliva is the Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of Business Markets at the Smeal College of Business Administration at Penn State University. In continuing the growth of the ISBM as the leading academic center devoted to advancing knowledge and practice in business-to-business marketing worldwide, Dr. Oliva has broadened the ISBM agendas of research, education, and networking through the establishment of the ISBM Business Marketing Web Consortium, innovating new Communities of Practice, building new Executive Educational Curricula, and increasing the scope of ISBM publications and representations in key magazines.

He brings to this position the experience of a 23-year career in business-to-business and consumer marketing, as well as several innovations in marketing education. Ralph served as Vice President of Worldwide Market Communications and Design, and Leader of the Web Team at Texas Instruments. In that role, he held responsibility for the global management of the Texas Instruments brand, oversight of all TI market communications, and leadership in design, message and communications strategy, and the creation of the TI web practice.

An active speaker worldwide, Dr. Oliva has authored 15 books, served as TV spokesperson for the application of technology to education, and serves on advisory boards to the marketing departments at The University of Texas at Dallas, The University of North Texas, and Colorado State University. He earned a Ph.D. and M.S. in Solid State Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a B.S. in Physics from Fordham University.
